TCE - Arrow Lake

Arrow Lake and the surrounding Monashee and Selkirk Mountains were experiencing a winter inversion with snow pounding the low elevations. According to Roger at the Mushroom Addition in Fauquier “The golf course is usually open this time of year”. However 3 feet of snow still sit with another storm moving in. Here is the first Video Update since the Launch of the Expedition.

Paul was able to proceed through the Locks at Keenleyside Dam and is now in one of the short sections of moving water on the Columbia. We are anxiously awaiting a phone call as soon as he is back in the states. Check back for daily updates on Ground Support Journal & TCE Live.

kkkkchhhrrrrkkkkk....... Ground Support here, filling you in with some details. The world premier of The Risen Sun, a Huckin Huge Film - in Seattle, was a complete success! Thank you for everyone coming out and saying farewell to the TCE Team and enjoying the film!

So as I sit here in the rain, locked out of the studio (the HH Team truck and "team proper" is a complete junk show after the long weekend)....it's been noted:

The Columbia Experience successfully loaded all necessary gear and locked down a shuttle to Revelstoke, BC where the mission has officially kicked off.
They were able to get across the border....
They made it to Revelstoke (see SPOT satellite track)
and it seems they have complete the first day of the expedition, making camp just short of Shelter Bay.

Logistics and The Little White

The Bad News:
The Source is frozen, so we're forced to start below Mica Dam. This cuts off the first 200 frozen miles and will hopefully allow us to begin paddling March 1st. We will paddle from Mica Creek to the Ocean, then go directly back up when the Source has thawed and complete the journey.

The Good News:
Everything looks good to go. We've now created a "Live" site with a SPOT tracker and a webcam.

The Great News:

Keel tracked down a trainer kite and 7meter kite, wonder how kitecatarafting will work...

Cody hooked up a zipline on the Little White and got some awesome video while Keel took photos. Cody will be posting the footage at huckinhuge.com
